Sterling Services are fast approaching the completion of installation at Putney High Street where they have provided the design, supply and installation of precast cladding panels in a Portland finish in a contract worth almost £600K.
Various challenges were overcome both in the design process and installation to achieve the classic art-deco look. Complicated radius moulds needed to be manufactured with extreme accurancy in order to achieve the seamless alignment of panels on site. Sterling also finished the panels with a two tone acid etch finish to refine the 3d look, as seen above; this required advanced finishing skills to ensure consistency.
The scheme, designed by Phase 3 architects, will become a mixed use development with retails units at ground floor level and much required residential space above. The building carefully ties the current aesthetic of local architecture with the future vision for the area, creating a lighter corner to this former neglected part of the high street with a view to opening up a more community driven feel.
