A collaborative effort: Sterling and MPA members demonstrate outstanding fire safety performance of precast

Sterling provided the precast concrete panels in collaboration with other MPA members to allow The Fire Protection Association to carry out a BS8414 fire test.

This was to demonstrate why precast concrete has the highest A1 fire safety rating, showing the performance, robustness and peace of mind which can be delivered by non-combustible concrete cladding systems.

During the test our concrete panels reached an external temperature of 600 degrees celsius, while remaining cool enough to touch on the inside.

With this test we hope to demonstrate to architects, home owners, insurers and business that precast concrete cladding systems really can offer a fire proof solution when designing buildings and schemes.
